Solo Circus aka Mark Russell has provided, and continues to provide quality, well planned circus skills workshops for primary schools, secondary schools and youth groups nationwide.

However many children you have at your school there is always a way to schedule a day or week so that everyone has some fun and gets to learn some circus skills in a positive, enjoyable and safe environment.

Circus skills workshops are always a great addition to the school day for pupils and teachers. As part of a health week to encourage excercise or as part of a P.E. lesson, there is always chance for teachers and assistants to have some quality time bonding with pupils doing a really fun activity. Circus skills workshops are also a great activity for weekend boarders or as a treat for a class/year or even whole school!

The Circus skills workshops I run for schools and youth groups usually start with a length of time which is divided into short sessions in which a circus skill is taught, everyone learns the same circus skill at the same time. This really helps to aid learning by not over challenging attention spans and focusing on learning one skill at at time. An example of this is a two hour circus workshop divided into four half hours. Four skills could be taught...ball juggling, plate spinning, diabolo and tight rope.

Circus skills workshops can also be run as a drop in style, with a fun, instructional demonstration at the start. Participants then try different circus skills as they please.

All of my circus skills workshops include fun demonstrations throughout in which I use my teaching and also performance expertise to make activity educational and fun.

Exactly how I run depends on your needs, how many children and over what times. I usually work to a rule of two hours circus skills in the morning and the same again in the afternoon with up to 30 participants per circus workshop, I can be flexible either way to some degree.

Solo Circus has 10m of Public liability insurance and holds an enhanced CRB certificate. A risk assessment can also be provided if required.

How much will it cost?

It is impossible to give prices online as they differ from one worshop to another. Prices are based on distanced travelled to event, numbers to participate in the circus skills sessions and even the time of year.
It needs to be said, that my workshops workout very reasonable per head, and are usually a much cheaper option than taking students off site to visit an attraction.
Please get in touch and I can give you a price for your requirements. If emailing please remember to say where you are so I can work out travel costs and give you an all inclusive price.
Solo Circus does not charge VAT.

Feedback from previous clients

I would like to thank you for coming in to school during health week. After speaking to many children and watching several classes, all children thoroughly enjoyed the circus sessions - so did the adults!!
I hope you had as much fun as we did!

“The circus skills workshop has been an extremely successful addition to our youth development programme for vulnerable young people. Mark understood the needs of our group and has been flexible and responsive in his approach to designing and running the workshops over the past 3 years. He is a lively and engaging performer, quickly establishing a positive rapport with our young people and holding their attention through his demonstrations and group sessions. I would highly recommend the Solo Circus workshops as a way of engaging young people, developing their sense of achievement and having lots of fun at the same time”
