Welcome to circus-workshop.co.uk, the perfect place to find out about and book a circus skills workshop for any type of event.
Over the past twenty years I have provided circus skills workshops and juggling workshops for many different clients holding very different types of events including: festivals (various types), fetes, carnivals, private parties, school fun days, corporate events, play schemes, scout/guide camps and more. I am equally at home teaching children or working as a corporate entertainer.
Circus skills workshops are both educational and fun and can bring together people of different ages with different backgrounds and varied skill levels. I can cater for absolute begginers to advanced jugglers who wish to enhance their skills.
What do you teach?
Skills taught in my
circus skills workshops are: Ball, Club and Ring Juggling, Devil Sticks,
Hula Hoop, Diabolo, Plate Spinning, Object Balancing (on hand,
chin, nose and head), Hat Manipulation, Cigar Boxes, Wire Walking
or Tight Rope, Stiltwalking and Unicycling/pedal-go. I also often
include various strange and wonderful bicycles.
Not all skills are taught in all sessions...although they can be!

A circus skills workshop can be organised in a way that is best suited to your event. For example, a school or corporate event or Hen party may wish to have a structured circus skills workshop spending allocated time working on particular circus skills and swapping around spending say 30 minutes on each skill.
A festival or fete would usually opt for something far less structured and and would rather I ran a drop in style circus skills workshop where people come and go as they please trying what they want, when they want. Drop in workshops are a good attraction for these kind of events and are always very popular. For drop in workshops I always mark an area out with stakes and rope or bunting, this keeps the circus skills workshop contained in one area for safety and to stop equipment being spread from here to eternity!

What ever your event, I can adapt what I do to fit you needs in a fully interactive and enthusiastic style.
Examples of circus skills workshops:
Two hours total, split into four half hour sessions of
four different skills, for example ball juggling, diabolo, plate
spinning and tight rope. This is very popular with schools and
corporate customers as a team building exercise or just a bit of

2: The same as above but with an extra session on the end to include more skills and the chance for participants to have a go at what they wish or the extra time could be used for participants to show off their new skills to the rest of the group.
3: A one to two hour session concentrating on just one skill.
Drop in style. Have a go at the lot, as and when you
please, suitable for fetes and festivals.

5: Multiple day courses. These tend to be more structured and could end in a performance performed by you!
6: Ice breaker / Energiser. Start your conference day with a boost. Short session aimed at gaining a high level of success in the group. This type of circus skills session will encourage communication and create a positive atmosphere.
7: Drop in, but with instructional demonstration at the start. Participants then try different circus skills as they please. This is great for schools and youth groups.
8: Bespoke circus workshops. You have an idea and I work with it.
For circus workshops in an organised/controlled environment (not drop in festival style), I always give a detailed and fun demonstration of all the skills being taught as well as on going tuition throughout the session.
Your event could be complemented by having a juggling show or even some stilt walkers. I can supply it all as either a solo circus performer or with additional acts. If your event is a big one, I can supply more circus skills instructors or performers.
Circus Workshop prices.
is impossible to have a price list as every circus skills
workshop has different dynamics from length of workshop to
distance travelled to facilitate the circus workshop. However,
when working schools the price per head can work out as low as
£2.50. This is based on a local school (within one hours drive)
and 4 X 1 hour sessions, each with 30 different participants in
Please note: This price is an example of circus workshops previously provided, it is not a guaranteed price.
Solo Circus does not charge VAT and despite ever increasing fuel prices, travel expenses have and will always be kept to a minimum.

What do people say?
I organised a circus workshop in January 2008 for 200 HBOS delegates with eight circus skills instructors and this is what was said:
like to say that Thursday went very well indeed. I have received
much praise for the day and the afternoon especially so I would
like to pass those on to you.
The guys you sent to Harewood were really friendly and put everyone at ease with their intros and humour.
Have to say when they got changed into their fancy shirts really transformed them, they looked FAB and added a bit of fun to it!!!

Over the last few years I have run circus skills sessions for a youth development charity, this is what they think:
The circus skills workshop has been an extremely successful addition to our youth development programme for vulnerable young people. Mark understood the needs of our group and has been flexible and responsive in his approach to designing and running the workshops over the past 3 years. He is a lively and engaging performer, quickly establishing a positive rapport with our young people and holding their attention through his demonstrations and group sessions. I would highly recommend the Solo Circus workshops as a way of engaging young people, developing their sense of achievement and having lots of fun at the same time
In March 2008 I ran a circus workshop for a church group in Nottinghamshire and this is what they said:
Hello Mark, Thank you so much for a super afternoon last Saturday. I saw many of the people who took part in the first session at church yesterday and they all said how much they had enjoyed it. One in particular said that she couldn't remember laughing so much for a long time. One complaint! Most of us have aching knees and backs of thighs from all the bending down - but I dare say we'll soon recover. Many thanks for so much fun.
May 2008, three days of circus skills workshops in a school in Buckinghamshire, this is the feedback:
Dear Mark, I would
like to thank you for coming in school during our health week.
After speaking to many children and watching several classes, all
children thoroughly enjoyed the circus sessions - so did the
I hope you had as much fun as we did!
